Red Oak Nursery

Crawling, playing, reading books, these are some of the things that our homeowners were taking into account when the purchased this gorgeous Rift red oak flooring for their son’s nursery.

The flooring in this nursery was chosen for several reasons.

Firstly, they chose wood flooring for health reasons. Natural, organic wood! They know a little someone will be crawling, playing, growing (so fast) on this floor- They want the reassurance of knowing he will be safe. (So many other flooring options have off-gassing..)

The homeowners wanted red oak to match existing hardwood floors in the house so it would have a cohesive look, and because they were installing radiant heat, they needed a stable wood that would be less likely to cup or warp.  One of the benefits of quarter and rift sawn wood, besides the different grain pattern, is its extreme dimensional stability. Which makes it ideal for demanding installations, such as over radiant heat.

They did the installation themselves and were pleasantly surprised at how smoothly it went compared to their last DIY flooring install. They commented on the pleasure of having the boards fit together so nicely.. that the boards were very easy to work with and the width was just what they wanted. This couple are DIYers they installed the floor and finished with a VOC free oil. They did a fabulous job with the whitewash finish.

Oak is a hardworking wood. It is naturally durable and able to withstand wear-and-tear.

With its natural beauty and hardworking reputation, Red Oak hardwood flooring is casual, comfortable and a reliable classic. Featuring a distinct wavy grain pattern and a subtle reddish hue in its natural, unstained state, it is a striking choice for modern, rustic and traditional spaces. No need to fuss and fear with these floors as they are naturally durable to withstand wear-and-tear.

Red Oak is very easy to work with and takes stain nicely allowing Excelsior to custom finish this friendly flooring for your family to live and play on.

DECKING FAVS

This deck was built using a few of our favorite products. The decking is Red Balau (batu), which is a selective harvested tropical hardwood. The decking was coated with ExoShield Premium Stain and was fastened using ExoDek QuickClip.

 How beautiful is this deck?!

This is just an example of what few of our favorite products can produce.

Live-edge Decomposed Desktop

We get to collaborate with lots of imaginative people who like to think outside the box. Who would have thought a decomposing live edge slag could look so perfectly at home in an office? Our customers who designed this piece of art knew exactly what they wanted and we love to help vision become reality.

It took a while to get into all the nooks and crannies of this bad-boy. The wood just soaked the oil up.

This desk looks right at home in the space that was designed perfectly for this unique piece. The glass-top keeps things from falling through and also gives a looking glass effect to the art of decomposition.

Inspiration is everywhere!

SAUGERTIES MOUNTAIN HOME

This Saugerties home tucked in the mountains. So many of our favorites materials come together in this eclectic house, with our customer’s beautiful decor accenting each piece. From walnut flooring and staircases to reclaimed oak barn doors and cabinets, we had a blast photographing each room.

The reclaimed water tower cedar ceilings were stunning, while the white washed version on the first floor ceilings and balcony created great texture. Live edge slabs on bars, tables, and walls are scattered throughout the rooms. Rift and quartered white oak mouldings border every room, window, and door! Dead standing maple paneling creates a modern feel in the kitchen and entryway to showcase our customer’s art collection. You have to take a look.
